作者简介: 1982年毕业于武汉大学图书情报学院，1985年获加拿大西安略大学图书馆情报学硕士，1996年获美国伊利诺大学博士学位。先后在武汉大学图书情报学院（1986-1991），美国南密西西比大学图书馆信息学院（1996-1999）执教，1999年至今任教于美国雪城大学信息研究学院。秦健博士的研究领域包括知识表述与组织，实用分类系统（Ontologies），数字化教育信息的组织管理以及科学信息交流。曾任OCLC访问学者，获OCLC图书馆信息学研究项目奖和科学信息研究所(Institute for Scientific Information)的引文研究奖。多次在全美情报学会组织并主持有关科学交流、信息与知识组织方面的专题讨论，曾为《Information Processing and Management》、《Library Trends》等学术期刊主编有关书目数据库知识发掘和知识组织的专辑，并在中国、美国及国际学术刊物和会议上发表50多篇论文。自1999年以来多次受国内大学和科研单位邀请回国参加学术会议及讲学，目前被北京大学数字化图书馆研究所聘为顾问，并担任《现代图书情报技术》（中国科学院文献情报中心主办）杂志的编委。
