In order to develop machinery and electrical industry,and strengthen the foundation of science and technology,the Ministry of Machinery Industry decided to establish the China Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Terminology Database (CMEETDB).The establishment of CMEETDB is a large terminology system engineering involving the science and technology of mechanical and electrical engineering,terminology research and computer application into a group.This project is one of the major scientific and technological projects and the soft subject plan during the 8th F ive-year Plan (1991—1995)of the Ministry of Machinery Industry. CMEETDB contains 44000 records including more than 200000 terms of Chinese, English, Russian. Japanese. German and French and adopts the specially designed CMEETDB User System.
