In this paper,the traditional meth od of weighted retrieval and the method of Boolean retrieval are discussed and compaired overall.And the defect of the traditional method of weighted re trieval is pointed out.The author suggests a progressive approach of weighted retrieval,which comprehends advantages of the traditional weighted retrieval and the Boolean retrieval for the most part.
