Abstract This paper proposes a novel software architecture for Ontology repository to support share of semantic information in a large open enterprise environment. The system is an implementation of a loose couple to allow agents and users to access and manipulate Ontologies through document-centric SOAP Web services. Key features of the system include the use of Ontology Web Service (OWS) to encapsulate the Ontology-manipulation functionalities, the support for smooth transformation of concept and the automatic check for Ontology integrity. Experiments show that the feasibility in supporting intelligent information processing.
