Golden Disk Library Integrated System(GDLIS) was based on a RDBMS platform and developed in 1995 by Golden Disk Electronic Company,the pioneer of multimedia application software development and electronic publication in China.This paper introduces the background,objectives and principles of developing GDLIS and the overall structure of GDLIS.The technical highlights on handling MARC and the opinion on selection of development platforms are also presented.
