A Study on the Models of Online Searching:the Comparison of OCLC First Search System with DIALOG System

Abstract  

The OCLC FirstSearch online retrieval system via Internet Web serves end users with various formats including bibliography,abstracts and full texts.Its searching costs are lower than the traditional online systems and its bibliography is free.The FirstSearch service represents a newmode of online searching in the modern information age. At present, the databases and document types supplied by the FirstSearch system are fewer than those by DIALOG.Users had better
choose the suitable sysytem according to specific conditions.
