Timeline Visualization of Patents Based on Citation Analysis

Abstract  

Following a review of visualization techniques of patents citation analysis, this paper introduces timeline technique to patent citation analysis for the first time.The authors expound the theoretical basis and design ideas of timeline. DVD pickup patents from USPTO are applied to prove that the technique can reveal the technology fronts and its evolution among patent documents, and mine the key technologies.
