Bibliometrics Analysis on Cited Frequency and Downloaded Frequency of Journal Papers

Abstract  

Bibliometrics data of Chinese Academic Journal Comprehensive Citation Report and Chinese Academic Journal Webometrics Reports are applied to the analysis on the time distribution of downloaded frequency and the time distribution of cited frequency. The  peak-values (percent) of the distribution curves and the the ratio of the downloaded frequency and cited frequency  are analyzed. The conclusion obtained is: the papers published in the last year are downloaded more than that published in other years, the papers published in the year before last year are cited more than that published in other years, the ratio of the downloaded frequency and cited frequency of papers published in current year is higher than that published in other years. The distribution curves of downloaded frequency and cited frequency of papers are studied, concentration coefficients are compared with each other. It is proposed that the downloaded indicators should be considered sufficiently as the cited indicators in the comprehensive evaluation system, owing to they are not consistent with each other in all cases.
