XML and Its Application in Library and Information Retrieval

Compared with HTML and SGML, XML was more suitable to Web to express the semantic meaning and structure of information. XML will take great impact on Web and will change the state of Web information management in libraries. The relationship among XML, HTML and SGML was compared, the impact XML took to libraries was expounded, and the impact of XML on information retrieval was discussed.
