The Strategies and Realization of B/S Based Scientific Reference Management System

Abstract  

With more and more scientific documentation are available electronically in Internet, reference management system is becoming an essential tool for daily researchers. In this paper, the strategies and the corresponding technologies to build a reference management system based on B/S (Browser/Server) scheme are discussed. The status and trend of the development of current reference managers are first overviewed, then a general framework of B/S based reference management system is designed, which mainly consists of four functional modules: user authority control, data import, management and export. RefM anager, a preliminary reference management system based on the framework, is developed, which permits automated import of searching results in bibliographic databases such as EI engineering village and can export the references in the thesis format defined by the author’s institute.
