The Database Approach for Image Indexing and Retrieval

The rapid increase of image resources makes it necessary to develop technology for efficient image indexing and retrieval. This paper presents a database approach to indexing image, which facilitates the extraction of image features such as color, texture and shape and also the description of the inner and outer characteristics of images such as classification, subject, title and creator. Index mechanism supporting fast retrieval is built up.
