Trends and Challenges for Institutional Repositories |

Abstract [Objective] Based on analysis of digital research, explore trends with high potential and impact in Institutional Repository (IR) development. [Methods] Using a quadrant graph with a knowledge outputs to applications dimension and a person to institution dimension, summarize community thinking and practices, reveal possible directions of IRs. [Results] Identified the following as the important trends of IR development: full handling non-textual materials, direct supporting research and education, services for strategic planning. [Conclusion] IR will transform into a live knowledge service platform.
