The Comparative Analysis of Websites Serving the Elders Between China and the U.S.A Based on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Theory

Abstract  Based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, this paper makes a comparison study on the functions of elder's websites in China and the U.S.A to meet hierarchies of needs, finds that most of the elder's websites in China can provide four to five hierarchies of needs, while the elder's websites in the U.S.A can meet two to three hierarchies of needs. The design of elder's websites in the U.S.A is concentrated on two or three levels of services for elderly in depth, otherwise most of China's websites place more emphasis on comprehensive functions, emphasizing the promotion and advertising of services. Finally, the authors conclude that the design of elder's websites in China should be strengthened in readability, information display, multimedia, navigation and layout design, in order to increase the accessibilit.
