Key Technologies for Architecting the Knowledge Infrastructure

The development of knowledge economy and information technology is changing the infrastructure of information services. Investigation on the development and basic principles of “the post digital library” and NSF/ACP in this paper leads to conclude that the transformation from the information infrastructure to the knowledge infrastructure is a necessity to develop the knowledge based information services in 21 century. Outlined in this paper are the framework of knowledge infrastructure and the key technologies for architecting knowledge infrastructure, such as grid technology, Web Services, knowledge organization system, collaboration for scientific research and personalized services, etc.
