Free information databases on Internet have brought new chances and challenges to the work of patent novelty searchng.The authors discuss the biological sequence patent novelty searching in the following aspects: the characters of biological information science resources, the retrieval application of the famous free biological sequence databases on Internet , and the comparison of the free databases and commercial databases.
