Application of Wireless Local Area Network in Library

Abstract  

The Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN) use wireless communication technology to realize network connection. Compared with wired network, the main advantage of wireless LAN is that it is unlimited by wire, and it can provide network connection conveniently in the place where the wired LAN can't work. In April 2002, we set up wireless local area network in Tsinghua University Library. The wireless network was built using the products according with
IEEE 802.11b wireless network standard. This article introduces the establishment and application of the wireless local area network in Tsinghua University Library, and discusses the characteristics and development trend of setting up wireless network in library.
