Abstract One disadvantage of the fast growth of digital resources in digital libraries is the decrease of retrieval speed and result accuracy. To solve this problem, Light-weight Intellectual Selection of Resources uses a kind of fast, light-weight method without much manual work to evaluate all the digital resources and take out the irrelevant ones before the retrieval goes into resource details. In this paper, firstly the framework of Light-weight Intellectual Selection of Resources is given. Secondly its five components are analyzed. At last, its application in CSDL Cross-Database Search System is tested and the result is evaluated.
