Abstract

This paper concerns on the influence of the natural and social properties on language usage in Web searching, and seeks to make an exploratory study on the elements that affect user’s  behavior. It synthesizes the results from Web questionnaire survey and controlled experiment in which users participate, and comes to the conclusion on the difference among gender, age, educational background and professional education in searching. This research contributes to the study on the elements that affect searching process, the modeling of user behavior and the improvement of search engines’ quality of service.
