Design and Implementation of an Automatic Obsolescence Management System for Digital Preservation

Abstract  This paper proposes an integrated and flexible automatic obsolescence risk management system-AOMS, which leverages the existing tools and services. AOMS monitors the file formats, versions, storage media, hardware, software, OS, and so forth, also provides risk ranks and resolutions. This paper designs the framework model and implementation steps for AOMS, hoping to help collection managers monitor various risks related to the digital resource objects, and schedule the preservation actions effectively and efficiently.
