Directory and Its Application in Distributing Subject Gateway |

Abstract The concept of directory is introduced and the main features of directory protocol such as LDAP, WHOIS++ and CIP are analyzed. The application of directory in significant international subject gateway initiatives such as Isaac, ROADS, DESIRE, Imesh Toolkit are studied. The paper tries to explain that directory protocol will play a very important role in distributed indexing and query routing system.
