The key of Open Archives Initiative protocol for metadata harvesting is building a proper cooperation between data providers and service providers, and then setup a proper framework for digital resource publishing and management. This paper is based on analyzing framework of OAI protocol, and discusses its application in detail.
To improve library access for video information, Carnegie Mellon University's Informedia Digital Video Library uses automatic processing to derive descriptors for video. A new extension to the video processing extracts geographic references from these descriptors. The operational library interface shows the geographic entities addressed in a given story, highlighting the regions discussed in the video through a map display synchronized with the video playback. The article expatiates on the Library's accessing video through spatial queries, map representation of a video segment and future of video information retrieval.

The construction of intelligent access and the provisioning of information to knowledge portals, however, it requires extensive manual editing and maintenance by the knowledge portal providers. In order to diminish these efforts using Ontology as a conceptual backbone for providing, accessing and structuring information in a comprehensive approach for building and maintaining knowledge portals. There are one research and one commercial case study that show how our approach is used in practice.

An approach for validation of UML based system modeling by CPN(Colored Petri Net) is described. The Object Oriented Petri net is constructed by combining objectoriented techniques with Petri net theory. In this article,the author also bring out a set of methods on how to mapping UML diagram to ObjectOriented CPN.The modeling of the OO Petri net not only can reduce the complexity of the model, but also make the modeled system with reusability and easy maintainability.
First, this paper analyses some algorithms of finding related page, and then puts forwards a modification of classic HITS algorithm which is used to find related pages. Finally, through experiment and its analysis, this paper draws some conclusions. Study on finding related-pages can provide information-seeker a way to retrieve useful Web pages effectively.

This paper discusses natural language retrieval based on phrase structure index and related problems. The paper presents the index types which meet the natural language retrieval, and analyses their characteristics. On the basis of validity and difficulty, the paper puts forward the retrieval project by using phrase structure index.
